Chicken 65 (Fried chicken)

Hey guys! Presenting you all the most delicious Chicken 65, which is a spicy and deep-fried chicken dish. This Heavenly Chicken 65 was invented in Tamil Nadu by a gentleman named A.M.Buhari in the year 1965. It was first introduced at the Buhari Hotel. It is a dish that tastes amazing on its own and even goes well with any vegetarian and non-vegetarian main courses. This is one of my favourite chicken recipe from my childhood. And it must be "The Favourite" recipe for all the kiddos. I learnt this recipe from my mom, who makes this for me all the time whenever I have asked for it. And the recipe is so simple. Now let's move on to the recipe!

INGREDIENTS:

*Chicken- 1 lb with or without bone
(I prefer thigh piece, as it's more juicier. You can even use breast piece)

*Chicken 65 masala- 2 tbspns (any available brand, I used Priya chicken 65 masala)

*Ginger garlic paste- 2 tbspns

*Rice flour- 3 tbspns

*Corn flour- 2 tbspns

*Kashmir chilli powder- 1 tbspn

*Red Chilli powder- 1/2 tbspn (if needed)

*Lemon juice- 1 tbspn

*Curd- 2 tbspns

*Kasuri methi- 1 tbspn crushed

*Salt- as per your taste

*Oil- for frying

PROCEDURE:

STEP 1:(Marinating the chicken)

*Cut the chicken into bite size pieces and wash them thoroughly.

*Add ginger garlic paste, rice flour, corn flour, chicken 65 masala, Kashmir chilli powder, red chilli powder, lemon juice, curd, salt , kasuri methi and mix them well.

* Marinate and refrigerate it for minimum of 2 hours. I prefer to marinate it overnight for the best results. The more you marinate, the more juicer the chicken will be.

STEP 2:(Frying)

*Now the chicken is marinated well, it's time to fry it.

*Heat a pan and add a good amount of oil for frying the chicken.

*Set the flame on medium-high.

*Once the oil is hot, add the chicken pieces and fry it until the chicken turns golden brown. (approximately takes 15 minutes to cook).

*One important note: While cooking, do not increase or decrease the flame.  Let the flame be on medium-high throughout the cooking, so that the chicken cooks evenly.

*Once the chicken pieces are cooked well, place them on a paper towel to extract the excess oil.

*Now the most yummy Chicken 65 is ready. Tastes amazing with a dash of lemon juice and raw onion on the side. It goes well with rasam rice, sambar rice, curd rice, Veg or Non-veg biriyani. Enjoy it with lemon and onion or serve it with any  favourite main course of your choice !!!
